Frequently Asked Questions

What is Awana?

AWANA (derived from the first letters of “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” as taken from 2 Timothy 2:15) is an evangelical, nonprofit, Bible-based international ministry founded in 1950. Through local churches, AWANA provides a fully integrated evangelism and long-term discipleship program for pre-school to high school aged children and youth (however, at Quiet Dell Baptist Church, our Awana program is only from 3 years old to 6th grade).

What is the Goal of Awana?

The goal of Awana is for all children To Know, To Love, & To Serve Christ, Our Lord.  The mission of Awana is to help “reach kids, equip leaders and change the world for God.”

How much does Awana Cost?

Quiet Dell Baptist Church is covering all of the Awana-related expenses for children who would like to participate in QDBC’s Awana program.  However, the cost to the church is approximately $40 per child per year.

How long does the Awana year last?

Awana Clubs at QDBC runs a little differently than most Awana programs.  Awana runs from March – November taking the winter months off rather than the summer months.  The reason for this is to try to allow for the game time to be done outside as much as possible.  Other reasons include that the winter months can be busy with holiday events, school, and other activities.  Space is limited at QDBC and therefore, we must use the space as efficiently as possible.

Since the Awana year starts in March will my 2nd grade child move up to T&T (3 – 6th grade) in March?

Great question!  This is a decision that can be made by the parents and leaders.  If the clubber could benefit from another year is Sparks that would be fine depending on the circumstances, however, if ready, the clubber could move up to the Truth & Training group.  Likewise, someone going into kindergarten in the fall, if ready, could start Sparks in March while still in pre-school if they are ready to do so.  However, if they aren’t, they can participate in Cubbies for another year.
